It has been nearly 16 years since the release of GTA San Andreas, but players love for the game has yet to waiver. What Kotaku doesn't make any note of is what's been done to the gameplay, confirming it doesn't know what's been changed, but it does claim Rockstar Games is trying to stay true to the original titles. GTA San Andreas is the most wanted video game remake: Report. But beware, it was not a playable remake, but recreation in the Epic engine as a tool to create small video. So much so, that a few weeks ago we showed you the Arcadia Squad project to recreate GTA San Andreas in Unreal Engine 4 as a remake. Kotaku notes that the games are being transferred to Unreal Engine, producing visuals that look like a "heavily-modded version of a classic GTA title," using both "new and old graphics." Adding to this, the UI has apparently been updated but will retain the same classic style. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is one of the most mythical adventures of the PS2 era, and one of the most beloved games in the series by its fans. According to the outlet, the long-running rumors are indeed true, but it's still not clear if they are remasters or remakes, as Kotaku refers to the re-releases as remasters in the headline, but then calls them remakes in the body of the text, but this may be because they are somewhere in-between. That said, muddying the waters is a new report from Kotaku. Some rumors have claimed the re-releases will be remakes, but others have said they will simply be remasters. Rockstar Dundee (formerly Ruffian Games), which Rockstar Games announced it acquired in October 2020, is said to be the main developer of the remakes, as well as lending a hand on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions of Grand Theft Auto V due out on November 11.Yan2295 didn't have much to say about the rumors, but when asked if he thinks we are getting a remaster/remake of the GTA Trilogy, Yan2295 was simple and direct, responding with "yes." Unfortunately, it's unclear if he thinks we are getting a remaster or a remake of these games, as the question is worded to include both. Though Gematsu has heard that there will be some content changes to make the games more suitable for modern audiences. While details on gameplay were not shared, the remakes are said to stay as true to the original games as possible. The user interface will also be updated, but retain the same classic style. The remakes are reportedly being developed in Unreal Engine using a mix of “new and old graphics,” with one source stating that the visuals reminded them of a heavily-modded version of a classic Grand Theft Auto title.
Rockstar Games is developing remakes of Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, PC, Stadia, iOS, and Android, according to a Kotaku report, which Gematsu can corroborate.
